Default Anet, Close Factions "pre"area from Higher Lvls

I think that Anet should close down access to the beginners area to keep the high level characters out. They come in and try to sell all their high end gear to the lower levels and some towns are starting to see a lot of trade spam instead of people talking about missions and playing the game. Some try to take advantage of new players, trying to sell crap items at higher prices too.

I really like Prophecies "Pre" area and how is is completely seperate from the main heart of the game. A lot of people had characters they just kept in pre and never took on to post.

Why? Well some people like to actually help new players learn the game and guide them along. Others think that 'Pre" just has a different class of players and would just hang out and talk with out the selling spam filling up the chat window.

So PLEASE PLEASE Anet Please seperate Factions Beginners zones from the rest of the players and make it a special place

In a way i agree with the OP and see where the point was coming from but during the Day of the Tengu event, it was easier to solo the Naga fangs quest with Tyria lvl 20s and give them a chance to get the mask but since the event is over, theres nothing much really for them to be there except perhaps to help guildies on harder quest with otherwise would be low lvl hencies in your party.

Well there's always the filters, but 3/4 of the spammers don't use the trade chat anyway -_-

Maybe designating certain Districts as "Trade/Vending Districts" or only allowing the same message to be repeated "X" times could possibly lower the vast amounts of spam. Just some thoughts although the chances of it happening may be relatively small *ungodly amounts of pessimism fill me*

But for the most, limiting the Shing Jea area to Factions characters only is a very good idea.

If the Cantha "pre"area is closed off, it should be moved to a different map, totally separeted as Tyria pre-searing is, or changes made how titles specific to Cantha work.

1) You can't complete Protector of Cantha, which requires completion of the missions in Pre area [They aren't even completable now due to the locked doors]

2) You can't complete Explorer of Cantha, which requires you to scout out the areas at the Pre area as well.

Um...if that is the only reason, then NO. I love going there with my lvl 20 and exploring the beautiful landscape etc...

The same thing can be said about lvl 20s selling in Ascalon. Lets not limit content based on what the unscrupulous minority chooses to partake in.

Just shutting up spammers is the way to go then.

Example: Someone keeps spamming WTS "insert whatever". Say after repeating the message...let's say 10-15 times within 1 minute, that character is "silenced" and his messages can't be seen by anyone for 5 minutes or something along those lines. Not too faulty of a spam-prevention system is it? I think it'd work.

Uhm, does this mean that Ascalon should be off limits too?

The tutorial part of Factions is really like Ascalon in Prophecies.

This is such a stupid idea.

Close off the high level areas to low level players then, so they cant be run there..

Actually, they did. There are closed gates all over the place only to be opened after you've done certain quests/missions.

A collectors item with no stats is hardly a reason to allow high level characters into a low level area. Besides, the lvl 5 assasin (no secondary) was able to not only slaughter the nagas solo but could take out level 12 yetis. The presearing in Prophecies doesn't allow characters to go back so the beginner area of cantha should be no different. As for a different map. The prophecies in presearing used a different map due to the searing event that changed the face of the map so unless something like that happens in cantha then there wouldn't be a need to use a different map for the before and after.

/signed. The beginning area should be for beginning characters.

And if you stay there long enough and manage to reach level 20 (or close to it) then hey, that's your choice.

Even high level characters should be able to explore the areas fully, expecially to get the 100% Cantha exploration.

I disagree... If we are going to have what you are proposing, we might as well shut off Ascalon from lev 20 players, and same for Yak's Bend, and pretty much all low level PvE areas.

What if I want my lev 20 friend to come and help me? Why should I waste my precious time grinding, when I already have 3 level 20 characters, and I already know what it is like getting to level 20 without any help. Mabe I want to level a new character fast, and THEN have some REAL fun.

Also, it is the trader's right to scam and cheat newbs and get money out of them. It's business... If we had your way in real life, we'd have to shut down all car dealerships, because people are getting scammed the like crazy.
Someday these newbs will become more experienced, and they will get back the money that they foolishly spent in the past.

Above all, if it gets on your nerves to see people spamming in the trade chat, disable it! If they are not using the trade chat, put them on ignore!
I honestly cant understand why people who are trying to make a "dishonest" buck piss you off. I personally dont even notice them. When one is busy doing what he is doing, he doesnt notice anything around him, unless he is not busy enough....

Is the storage still available in Cantha's pre? Or did they remove that after the head start?

If it is still there...then it doesn't matter if you're level 20 or level 1. I can put fun greens or perfect weapons in there and sell them all day.

If you are going to close the pre area from higher levels, then you need to remove storage as well.

Trade improvements are (apparently) coming, so asking ANet to fix trade spam is just silly at this point.

Incredibly bad idea.

Reaons:

1. No one could complete the explorer title.
2. The Protector of Cantha title would be impossible to attain for already level 20s.
3. Storage is still there. Disallowing level 20s from entering there would do absolutly nothing.

As for this proposal, if you really feel so strongly about this level 20s should be disallowed everywhere where there might be low level players, ascalon, yaks bend, henge of denravi, beetletun... The list goes on. People will stop selling things when there's no demand for them, and you can't stop the scammers... You can never stop the scammers, they even exist in pre-searing ascalon with "buying black and silver dye for 10g each."

If someone who is really so new gets scammed, they might loose what, 1k at the very most? If someone who has played quite a bit/ebayed gets scammed, that's their own fault.

Perphaps there needs to be somthing done with the non-trade chat channel spam, but frankly I rarely leave my local chat on for long anyway. Only time it's even on is when I'm looking to buy or looking for a PUG.

not signed.

Factions has so little low level content you can easily be lvl20 before you even leave the island, so prohibiting lvl20s there would be hard.

I think what you want is to not let Tyria made characters in. which would be retarded as they couldnt get alot of titles.
